Birdlife at Rondekuil

Are you interested in Cape Town bird watching?

Bird-watching at Rondekuil is very rewarding! The trees and reeds along the Diep River, which run along the northern boundary of the farm, provide an excellent habitat for many bird species. The reed-filled dam and landscaped gardens at Leeulaagte Cottages, as well as the gardens surrounding De Rondawel and the main Farm House, are also home to many varieties of beautiful birds. Rondekuil sure is a prime birding territory for all bird watching enthusiasts to enjoy.

Below is a list of all the birds that have been spotted at Rondekuil – most observations were confirmed by Members of the Tygerberg Bird Club when they visited the farm over the last couple of years.

The pictures of the birds provided in the attached slide presentation, were taken by Gerald Wingate, a committee member of the Tygerberg Bird Club. His portfolio includes establishing bird lists in the area surrounding Rondekuil and gathering information for the Bird Atlas Project.
